Luci Live for MAC and Windows update

New version 1.9.10 has some nice new features:

  • Up to 192 kHz sample-rate supported with the ULCC codec.
  • SRV support for DNS. This means that if you use a URL for addressing your station DNS can now also define the port you want to stream to. For instance our echo server is also located at “_echo._udp.lucilive.com”, Luci Live will look up the ip-address AND port number to use from DNS servers. To define a SRV entry use SRV: , for instance set Destination in the station to “SRV:_echo._udp.lucilive.com”.
  • Opus bitrate signalling for the N/ACIP protocol.
  • Some general compatibility improvements for N/ACIP.

Luci Live updated to 1.9.5

For platforms Windows, Apple, iOS and Android. iOS version will be available after App store approval.

New features

  • Network jitter metering, enable this in Options or Settings
  • On Windows, show full names of Audio cards, used to be truncated to 31 characters
  • Allow the use of multiple USB drives with Luci Live on 1 PC or MAC, for multichannel purposes.
  • On MAC, show channel names for multichannel audio cards and improved support for aggregate devices
  • Improved station selection with keyboard
  • On Android, logout after FTP upload.
  • On iOS, Opus codec is added.
  • On iOS, we added the ability to keep the screen active while streaming or recording. Enable this in the settings/general screen
  • On iOS, the Station details are arranged more logically

Bugs solved:

  • On MAC, S and L shortcut keys now work
  • On Android, Fast Forward made the app crash sometimes when it reached the end of the file.

Luci Live for iOS with video , status update

Work on the video features of Luci Live for iOS is progressing steadily. You’ll be able to:

  • Stream live video and audio, using 2 seperate audio and video streams, 1 low latency audio and 1 video stream. This allows you to use higher latency for video (bigger jitter buffer for stability) but still have low round-trip delay for audio and quick interaction.
  • Simultaneously (with streaming) record the audio and video locally as files.
  • Edit the video and audio
  • Upload the video and audio

At the moment we’re finishing the last part, editing and uploading.

Luci Live now with Opus.

V 1.9 just released for PC, MAC and Android now contains the Opus Audio codec. iOS version follows shortly.

New features:

  • Opus audio codec, with Audio , Voice and Low delay profiles to choose from.
  • The status light besides the IN level meter now can also turn Amber. It used to turn Red on occasions where there was an error in the incoming stream from the network but Luci could correct it. It now only turns Red on errors which Luci could not correct and Amber where Luci could correct them.
  • Compatibility with Prontonet improved when called using N/ACIP.
  • On Android, you can now delete specific recordings.

Bugs solved:

  • On MAC only, when the user had specific accessibility functions activated in OSX, Luci Live would crash on text input.

More Audio I/O features for Luci Live on MAC and Windows

Version 1.8 contains a few valuable new audio features:

  • Stereo level meters
  • Choose which input audio channel to use when using a mono stream: Default (open in mono mode), L, R or L+R mixed.
  • On MAC, choose specific channels of multichannel audio devices also,  just like on Windows

And a few bugs solved:

  • When no RTP port was filled in at Options/default, it defaulted to 0, now it defaults to 5004
  • On MAC, bug solved when you started with a mono stream and then switched to a stereo station

Stream cloning for iOS7 available now

With the newest Luci Live version 1.7 just released on the App store, you can now use stream-cloning on iOS7:
For instance, if you have an active WIFI and 3G/4G connection on your iPhone, you can send 2 streams, 1 via WIFI and the other via 3G/4G. So when one fails and the other will remain working, the studio will not notice any interruption. The Studio side has to be able to receive these 2 streams and use them accordingly of course.

You don’t necessarily need multiple working network connections though, if both sides support IPV4 AND IPV6, your DNS server is set to return an A and AAAA record, Luci will send 2 streams, one via IPV4 and one via IPV6, you never know if one fails or not .

Sounds all too technical ?

Don’t worry, to use Stream cloning , simply switch the protocol to SC-RTP in the station setting and the rest will be sorted out for you automatically.

If you use Luci Studio for receiving Luci Live streams you don’t have to change anything, it will automatically detect cloned streams. Just leave it set to the RTP protocol.
If you already have an IP-codec from another manufacturer, please contact them to see if their devices are able to receive cloned streams.
